John Levendis is a Professor of Economics, and the William Barnett Professor in Free Enterprise Studies at Loyola University New Orleans. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Loyola 1997, where he was recognized as the outstanding graduating business student, and as the outstanding economics graduate. From there, he went to the University of Iowa where he received an MA in economics in 2000, an MS in mathematics in 2003, and a Ph.D. in economics in 2004. Dr. Levendis has taught at the University of Iowa, Cornell College, Southeastern Louisiana University, and the Economics University of Prague. He has been teaching at Loyola since 2005.

Dr. Levendis’ research ranges widely. Currently, Dr. Levendis is researching the nature and sources of anomalies in financial and labor markets.

John Levendis’ research has been discussed in national newspapers such as the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, and local newspapers such as the Baton Rouge Advocate and the Times-Picayune. He is a three-time recipient of the College’s outstanding researcher award.
